Boards, crates, ropes, blankets and more — kids build, climb, construct and play freely with materials from Berlin's Bewegungsbaustelle. Drop in any time across the festival, stay as long as you like.

This is playtime in its purest form. Using a rich collection of open-ended materials from Bewegungsbaustelle Berlin — boards, crates, ropes, hoops, blankets and clamps — kids are free to build, climb, balance, construct and invent entirely on their own terms. There are no instructions, no right way to play and no finished result to work towards. Just space, materials and the endless creativity that emerges when children are trusted to set their own challenges. The Free Play space is open all day from Friday through Sunday — drop in for ten minutes or spend the whole afternoon. Based on the principles of psychomotor learning, this kind of free play supports physical confidence, problem-solving and self-directed discovery, all while just feeling like the best kind of fun.
